The opening ceremony of the festival offers a grandiose vision of the history and culture of the country. It offers unique experiences every year as each year’s ceremonies differ from the last. Combined with the Naadam festival and some of the most majestic landscapes of the country, the 15-day tour will keep you on your feet from the beginning until the end.

Tour Itinerary

    Day 1/ Jul 09 - Ulaanbaatar

    Please arrange your arrival date in this day and our national escort will pick you up from airport/train station and transfer to your hotel for check-in. If your arrival time permits join the welcoming dinner with your tour guide and tour briefing will be introduced during this dinner.

    Day 2/ Jul 10 - Horse racing

    Travel approximately 50km outside the city to enjoy the prior day of the Naadam festival. A thrilling day unfolds as you to view the cross-country horseracing. Also known as ‘tumnii ekh’ (leader of ten thousand), this certainly is sought after amongst the younger competitors. Cheer along with the locals as the athletes compete and enthrall in the carnival-like atmosphere. Boxed meals will be provided for lunch in the horseracing field today. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar city.

    Day 3/ Jul 11 - Mongol Naadam

    One of the special features you will experiencing first-hand the annual Naadam Festival. The highlight of your journey begins as the group mix with locals and nomads alike to witness the Opening Ceremony of the Naadam Festival, at Central Stadium. Here you can see featured events that include wrestling, horseracing and archery. You will have the chance to view the procession of the athletes, officials and monks, as the first round of competition in the wrestling tournament begins. Tickets to all arenas are allocated by local Government tourist authority in the weeks leading up to the opening ceremony; therefore, the exact program for the festival cannot be given until during your trip. After the grand Opening Ceremony, the first round of wrestling and archery is held in the afternoon at Naadam Stadium. Please prepare your bag each day to contain everything you may need for the day; sun hat, sunscreen, drinking water and plenty of camera memory etc. at a minimum. It is usually hot at this time of year, and the seats are not under cover, so you will be exposed to the sun all day. Valuables must be kept in the hotel safe or under your clothes in a money belt as you will be walking through huge crowds on your way in and out of the stadium stands. Lunch during this time will usually be a boxed lunch organized by the hotel, so that you can enjoy it ‘picnic style’ without leaving the excitement of the festival. In the evening Naadam Gala dinner.

    Day 4/ Jul 12 - Baga Gazriin Chuluu

    Early morning, begin your journey to Baga Gazriin Chuluu, a unique formation of rocks. In the afternoon explore the area. Picnic lunch.

    Day 5/ Jul 13 - Tsagaan Suvarga

    After breakfast visit the ruins of Sum Khukh Burd Temple. Continue driving to Tsagaan Suvarga, a fascinating white limestone cliff which resembles a Stupa. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in a Ger camp.

    Day 6/ Jul 14 - Yol Valley

    Drive further south. Arrive at the Three Beauties Mountain range of the Gobi National Park. Spend the day on an excursion to Yol Valley, hiking and enjoying stunning photographic opportunities. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay in a Ger camp.

    Day 7/ Jul 15 - Khongor Sand Dune

    After breakfast drive to Khongor Sand Dunes known as the Singing Dunes. A climb up to the sand dunes will be rewarded with breathtaking views. In the evening observe a spectacular sunset, please prepare your cameras. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay in a Ger camp.

    Day 8/ Jul 16 - Bayanzag

    Drive to the world-famous Flaming Cliffs (Bayanzag), rich in saxaul trees of Gobi. Explore the site of the first paleontological discoveries in Mongolia by following the footsteps of Roy Chapman Andrews (January 26, 1884 – March 11, 1960), an American explorer, adventurer and naturalist. Visit a nomadic camel breeding family and experience the hospitality of Mongolian nomads. Enjoy a short camel ride. Lunch, dinner, and overnight stay in a Ger camp.

    Day 9/ Jul 17 - Ongi Monastery

    After breakfast drive north and visit the ruins of the once great Ongi Monastery, local restored temple and have a walk in the surrounding area. Dinner and overnight stay in a Ger camp.

    Day 10/ Jul 18 - Kharkhorin

    After breakfast drive to Karakorum, once the capital of the 13th century Great Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene-Zuu Monastery, which was the first and the largest monastery in Mongolia built on the ruins of the ancient capital. Tour the monastery and visit several temples with excellent examples of Buddhist Thangka paintings and statues dating back to the 17th century. Visit the Karakorum museum.

    Day 11/ Jul 19 - Tsenkher Hot Spring

    Drive to the Tsenkher hot spring. Spend the day relaxing in a natural spring and walking in the surrounding forest. Please do not forget to pack your swimsuit for this day. Optional massage and beauty ser¬vices are available on camp. Enjoy the hot spring again after dinner.

    Day 12/ Jul 20 - Lake Ugii

    Start driving to the monuments of prince Kul-Tegin (685-731), the oldest and most important findings of Turkish period. Later, continue driving towards Lake Ugii. Horse riding, boat riding and fishing services may be available optionally.

    Day 13/ Jul 21 - Khustai National Park

    Drive to Khustai Nuruu National Park. Drive deep into the National Park in search of Przewalski horses (takhi), ancestor of all modern-day horses in the world. If you have binoculars, please bring them. View a short documentary and visit the museum.

    Day 14/ Jul 22 - Terelj National park

    In the morning after breakfast drive to Terelj National park. Check in Juulchin Terelj Resort luxury camp in the free for leisure. Full day hiking and museum visiting tours are available on request.

    Day 15/ Jul 23 - International departure

    Transfer to airport or train station for your international departure.
