Tour Overview

Prepare for a remarkable odyssey through the enchanting Altai Mountains of Mongolia, a haven tucked away in the Bayan-Ulgii province, home to the Kazakh community. This journey unveils the untouched grandeur of western Mongolia, offering an immersive experience in the vast landscapes of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, extending across the borders of China, Russia, and Mongolia.

Our expedition begins in Ulaanbaatar, the heart of Mongolia, where we set our sights on the monumental Genghis Khan statue before venturing into the scenic wonders of Terelj National Park. Alpine vistas, hiking escapades, and horseback adventures await, accompanied by warm encounters with nomadic families eager to share their tales.

A swift flight takes us to Olgi Village, Get ready for an adrenaline-pumping adventure through the natural wonders of Altai Tavan Bogd! The journey kicks off with an early morning drive to Mongolia's highest peak, Khüiten, soaring at 4,374 meters. Brace yourself for stunning ice peaks and the massive Potanin Glacier stretching 20 kilometers. The excitement continues as you explore the ever-changing White River Valley, a nomadic paradise framed by dramatic mountains. Set up camp under the stars, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Altai Mountains and the timeless traditions of the Tuvan people. It's a thrilling ride through nature's wonders and cultural charm!

Returning to the White River, we bid farewell with a festive feast before heading to the breathtaking Khoton and Khurgan lakes. Continuing your journey, the pristine beauty of the lakes area unfolds—where trees sway in the breeze, snow-capped mountains stand sentinel, and crystal-clear lakes mirror the azure sky. As you arrive at the Kazakh nomadic family's dwelling, settle into the rhythmic embrace of nomadic life. The traditional yurt becomes your abode, a gateway to an immersive experience that transcends time. The air is imbued with the scent of adventure, and the landscape becomes a canvas for shared moments. Today's highlight is the symbolic act of slaughtering a sheep—a cherished Kazakh tradition reserved for honoring esteemed guests. This gesture marks the commencement of a "Five Fingers" feast, a celebration of camaraderie and cultural exchange. The evening comes alive with the harmonies of song and laughter, echoing through the vastness of the Altai. Engage in the festivities alongside your Kazakh hosts, forging connections that transcend language and customs. As the night unfolds, under the vast Mongolian sky, you'll find a sense of belonging in the heart of the nomadic way of life—an experience that transcends the ordinary and resonates deep within the soul.

On the return journey to Ulgii, making a captivating stop along the way to visit the home of an Eagle hunter's family. Discover the time-honored tradition of hunting with eagles, a form of falconry deeply ingrained in the cultural tapestry of the Eurasian Steppe. This ancient practice is upheld by the Kazakhs and the Kyrgyz, not only in contemporary Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan but also in the diasporas of Bayan-Ulgii Provinces. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of falconry as you witness the profound connection between the skilled hunters and their majestic eagles. Learn about the intricate techniques and traditions passed down through generations, gaining insight into the symbiotic relationship that exists between humans and these formidable birds of prey.
