Overview
Ice Festival The “Blue Pearl” Ice Festival is an annual winter celebration held on the frozen surface of Lake Khuvsgul, one of Mongolia’s largest and deepest freshwater lakes. First organized in 2000, the festival aims to raise awareness of environmental protection while promoting winter tourism in the region. The festival offers a lively mix of traditional culture, sports, and entertainment. Highlights include anklebone shooting, ice hockey, dogsled and bicycle races, horse racing, tug-of war on ice, family games, cultural performances, and shamanic rituals. International visitors can also join activities such as curling, Mongolian karaoke, cooking shows, and traditional Mongolian fashion shows, making the festival an interactive and memorable winter experience.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
6 daysUpon your arrival at the airport, the Juulchin Team will warmly welcome you and transfer you to the city center. After lunch, we begin our Ulaanbaatar city tour with a visit to Sukhbaatar Square, the capital’s central plaza surrounded by important landmarks. A short walk takes us to the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, where the highlight is the impressive golden statue of the Great Khan displayed on the top floor. We then continue to Gandan Monastery, Mongolia’s most important Buddhist monastery, renowned for its peaceful atmosphere, resident monks, traditional chanting, and the magnificent 26.5-meter tall statue of Megjid Janraisig, a symbol of compassion and Mongolia’s Buddhist heritage.
