Khovd
Khovd Khoit Tsenkher Cave
Located in Khovd province of Mongolia, Khoit Tsenkher Cave features several petroglyphs dating back to Paleolithic period. These are shown to be depicting animals such as stags, buffalo, oxen, ibex, lions, argali, antelopes, camels, elephants and ostriches. Of these, some are extinct in Mongolia. The art here is colored in brown and red and can be quite a sight to behold.
Altan Khukhii state worshipped mountain
Crossing boundaries of three soums of Uvs and Khovd provinces, Altan Khukhii is an independent mountain range with well preserved scenery. Local people have been worshipping the mountain for a long time. It was formally recognized as State worship mountain in 2005when its first state ceremony took place. Large number of plant species and wildlife can be found here.
Tsambagarav Uul National Park
Tsambagarav Uul National Park is located in Bayan-Ulgii, the country’s westernmost province. It is named after a mountain of the same name. Tsambagarav mountain has two tall peaks named Tsast Uul (4,193m) and Tsambagarav (4,250m). The surrounding sparsely populated areas have kept the National Park unharmed. It is also home to a notable population of snow leopards.
