Tour Overview

The Gobi Desert is home to large quantity of exotic wildlife. Among these, the two humped Bactrian camels are some of the most majestic and sturdiest animals. In the past, they were used by traders in large numbers to transfer goods along the ancient Silk Road. You can relive the glory of past days from atop the camels in the vastness of Gobi.

Tour Itinerary

    Day 1 - Ulaanbaatar

    Upon arrival in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted by your guide and driver. Transfer to the hotel. Optional half or full day city tours are available upon request.

    Day 2 - South Gobi/ Khongor Sand Dune

    Pick up from hotel and transfer to the airport for domestic flight to the town of Dalanzadgad. Upon arrival, start driving through Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park to reach Khongor Sand dune. Arrive in the Ger camp and get prepared for the next days of camel trekking. Overnight stay in a Ger camp. (L/D)

    Day 3-6 - Camel trekking (daily riding – 22-30km)

    The trekking will continue along the Singing sand dune, heading toward the foothill of the highest peak of Khongor sand dune. This place is the best to observe sunset in the evening. Trekking 300m high sand dune will offer great view of the surrounding area. Overnight stays in tent camping during these days.

    Day 7 - South Gobi/ Bayanzag

    In the morning, head towards the world-famous Flaming Cliffs (Bayanzag), rich in saxaul trees of Gobi semi desert. Explore the sites of the first paleontological discoveries in Mongolia by following the footsteps of Roy Chapman Andrews (January 26, 1884 – March 11, 1960), an American explorer, adventurer and naturalist. Visit a nomadic camel breeding family and experience the hospitality of Mongolian nomads. Overnight stay in a Camping tent. (B/L/D)

    Day 8 - Ulaanbaatar city

    Early morning drive to local airport to catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar city. Transfer to hotel upon arrival. (B)

    Day 9 - Departure

    Transfer to the railway station or the airport for international departure.
