The Khuiten peak (4374m) in Altai Tavan Bogd is the highest point of Mongolia. Mt. Altai Tavan Bogd is located near the northwestern border of the country.

Altai Tavan Bogd is the highest mountain in Mongolia and has massif-type. Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain located in Bayan-Ulgii Province and its Khuiten Peak is the highest point of Mongolia at 4374 meters above sea level. Besides Khuiten, the mountain includes four peaks as Nairamdal, Malchin, Burged and Ulgii.
The Nairamdal Peak forms the border tripoint between Mongolia, Russia, and the Xinjiang province of China. Around the area is listing Altai Tavan Bogd National Park covers 6,362 km². It includes the lakes Khoton, Khurgan, and Dayan. The protected area offers a home for many species of alpine animal, such as the Argali sheep, Ibex, Red deer, Beech marten, Moose, Snow cock, and Golden eagle.

Day 1. Ulaanbaatar. (B/L/D)
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to selected hotel. After lunch, take city tour including Sukhbaatar Square, National History Museum and then visit Zaisan Hill War Memorial to get your bearings with a panoramic view of the whole city. Enjoy traditional concert and have a dinner.

Day 2. Fly to Ulgii/Tsagaan Gol valley. 200km (B/L/D)
In the morning transfer to airport and take a flight to Ulgii town, the center of Bayan-Ulgii, the western most province of Mongolia. Our guide and drivers will pick you up at local airport and move to the town. If time allows we will be visiting local ethnographic museum. And then we will travel Tsagaan gol valley 200 kms about 7-8 hours along the Tsagaan River through stunning valley to Shiveet Khairkhan Mountain. The Shiveet Mountain is sacred to the Tuvan people and boasts much wildlife including mountain goat-ibex. Each year the Tuvans climb to the mountain summit to make offering ceremony for the local ghosts.

Day 3. Hike to Base camp. 16km (B/L/D)
In the morning after having our hearty breakfast we will pack our luggage and load on the back of camels. Start our hike to the Holy Mounts of Altai Tavan Bogd. The trail is gradual ascent, takes about 4-5 hours of moderate hike for 14-16kms. We will reach to a base camp on the edge of the Potaniin’s Glacier, at the foot of Malchin mountain. On the way of our hike you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the mountains with icy peaks of Khuiten (4374m), Nairamdal (4082m), Burged (4071m), Malchin (4051m), and Ulgii (4113m) and glaciers of Potanin and Alexander.

Day 4. Malchin Peak (B/L/D)
Today we will have an optional acclimatization climb up at Malchin peak, that stretches for 4051m above sea level, as the lowest of the peaks around. This mountain lies along the borderline of Mongolia and Russia and offers a spectacular view over the Potanin’s glacier and snow peaked summits of Altai Mountain range. Back to the base camp for preparation of next day’s foray to highest peak of Mongolia.

Day 5-8. Climb to the highest peak of Mongolia - Khuiten Peak (B/L/D)
Four days dedicated for our climb to Khuiten peak at 4374m, the highest point of Mongolia. First day we will reach to Khonog Tolgoi, an icy hill lies at eastern side of Khuiten where climbers take a stopover before starting a foray to the summit. Then next day early in the morning start climbing under the guidance of local specialist mountaineering guide. We should cross the Potanin’s glacier that requires main mountaineering equipments in order to reach the target mountain. Before reaching the Khuiten's foothill we will traverse number of crevasses. Our actual ascent takes 4 hours with technically moderate movement. From the Khuiten summit you would enjoy tremendous bird eye view over China, Russia and the neighboring snowcapped ridges and snow fields. If weather allows for successful climb, then we will return back to our base camp on the edge of Potanin's glacier. A day is reserved as a spare (leeway) for our climb.

Day 9. Last day trekking (B/L/D)
On our last day trekking we will trek along the Tsagaan river for 16 kms about 4-5hours. In the evening our drivers and vans will come at our campsite.

Day 10. Drive back to Ulgii town. 200km (B/L/D)
Travel back to Ulgii town as driving about 200kms for 6-7hours.
Overnight in tourist GER camp
Day 11. Fly back to Ulaanbaatar (B/L/D)
Transfer to local airport for taking a flight back to Ulaanbaatar. Arrival in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon for your leisure time and shopping.
Day 12. Departure (B)
After breakfast transfer to the airport or train station for your international departure.
